Flock of birds

I've been reflecting on the journey that we all take alone. A battle with health can feel like you're trying to get along in a rowboat with holes in it. Some days can feel like a miracle just getting the holes patched so you don't drown. Other days you may achieve foward movement, but slowly, so much slower than you're hoping for. And it often feels like you're watching everyone else go happily by in a brand new catamaran. There's this Coldplay song I've listened to, and the lyrics make me think of living with a chronic illness and seeing everyone else productive in their lives, appearing as effortless as birds flying freely. I will never give up the fight to fly free and get my rowboat to shore, and I hope you don't, either.

A flock of birds
Hovering above
Just a flock of birds
That's how you think of love

And I always
Look up to the sky, pray before the dawn
Cause they fly always
Sometimes they arrive, sometimes they are gone
They fly on

A flock of birds
Hovering above
Into smoke I'm turned and rise
Following them up

Still I always
Look up to the sky, pray before the dawn
Cause they fly away
One minute they arrive, next you know they're gone
They fly on

So fly on, ride through
Maybe one day I'll fly next to you
Fly on, ride through
Maybe one day I can fly with you
Fly on
