A Whole New World: With Insulin Sensitivity Comes an Unassailable Immune System
Insulin resistance and the long and winding road to its end state, diabetes, diminishes the immune system to a weak and compromised state. These health afflictions, immensely prevalent in the world today, and only worsening, have shifted the human experience into a predicament of fear and dependency.
A person with insulin resistance and diabetes has been shown to be more susceptible to a wide range of infections. Interestingly, I'm seeing a good amount of studies about metformin, the common diabetes drug, being an effective agent against viral and bacterial infections, including sepsis, pneumonia and COVID-19.
Thankfully, naturally boosting insulin sensitivity and reducing insulin resistance is simple: sunlight, real, lower-carbohydrate foods, and movement. I'll let you know, I've learned that it's a pretty good idea to get on this plan as soon as possible. You don't want to end up like me, on five shots of insulin a day and scouring PubMed on how to regenerate pancreatic beta cells. That's probably not going to happen. More likely, you'll be struggling with acute or chronic health conditions that doctors would never relate to insulin resistance, being given prescriptions or treatments with side effects that address only the symptoms.
